Several scams are targeting businesses, demanding fees for purported Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) filings with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). These fraudulent forms, such as Form 4022 and Form 5102, are not legitimate and are being investigated by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. FinCEN does not charge for BOI filings and accepts submissions only through its official website. Victims risk both financial loss and legal repercussions for submitting inaccurate or incomplete information. The Mississippi Secretary of State's office warns businesses to verify the authenticity of any BOI filing requests before submitting any information or payment.
